Apple will be offering free service to non-Touch Bar 13-inch MacBook Pro units whose batteries have bloated.
Eligibility for this program will be determined by the MacBook’s product serial number. The company estimates units manufactured between October 2016 and October 2017 will fall within the affected range.
Owners may input their MacBook’s serial number on the replacement program page to check eligibility. They can later go to an Apple Authorized Service Provider to get the MacBook’s battery replaced.
This battery replacement program covers MacBook Pros affected by a battery issue five years since the model was first sold in retail.
Meanwhile, the company specifies that the battery replacement does not extend the standard warranty of 13-inch MacBook Pros.
Apple also offers battery replacements for old iPhones and Apple Watch Series 2 devices. JB
