One of the future versions of the iPhone, which will probably not be released before 2021, will have no physical connections, opines famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF Securities, whose focus is Apple developments.
According to Kuo, Apple plans to definitively drop its Lightning port and simply intends not to replace it. Kuo is convinced that Apple has decided not to replace its Lightning port with one of the USB-C connectors, which are a standard feature of the Android ecosystem.
In the next two years, at least one iPhone (probably the most high-end one) will have absolutely no physical ports, and will rely on wireless for charging and data transfers. The problem is that until now, inductive charging is slower than charging with a wired connection. So there is little chance that in the near future Apple will be able to compete with the likes of Vivo or Realme, both of which are already offering hyper-fast wired charging systems.
At the same time, the analyst once again indicated that Apple is working on an iPhone SE 2, which is due for release in the first half of 2021. It will be equipped with a 5.5- or 6.1-inch screen, with a full-screen design that has a smaller notch than current models.
Finally, let us not forget that earlier this year Kuo suggested that all of the new iPhones to be presented in 2020 (and by inference thereafter) would be 5G compatible. RGA
