Apple tests fix vs. iMessage app-crashing bug in iOS 8.4 beta
For those iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users suffering from pranksters sending a string of characters that can crash their iMessage apps, help is on the way.
Apple is now testing a fix for the bug in the beta of its upcoming iOS 8.4 update, Apple-centric site MacRumors said.
The beta has been seeded to developers and may be released before the launch of Apple Music on June 30, the site said.
Last month, the messaging bug was found to crash not just the iMessage app but also third-party messaging apps including Snapchat, Twitter and WhatsApp.
For now, affected users may have to follow the temporary fix Apple outlined. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News

Apple's new iMessage tool helps you get over your iPhone
Moving away from Apple's iPhone for one reason or another but worried you'll still get iMessages? Now, there's a tool for that.
Apple's new tool allows an iPhone owner to remove his or her phone number from Apple's proprietary iMessage system.
Users may log on to the deregister iMessage website and follow the on-screen instructions, and will have to enter a confirmation code to be sent to the phone.
Tech site The Verge said the site, first seen by a poster on Reddit, may help address a complaint by former iPhone users that they are not getting text messages from friends.
It turned out users who switched away from iOS but failed to disable iMessage first cannot see messages sent from Apple devices.
"If you don't switch devices often, the new tool may seem insignificant, but for those who often swap SIM cards into different devices for work, it should make the transition smoother," The Verge said. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
