Samsung to cap battery charging for Galaxy Note 7 at 60%

The issue of defective and exploding batteries inside the Galaxy Note 7 is perhaps one of the worst setbacks that Samsung has experienced so far. While recalls are still underway, the company will be releasing a software update that will limit battery charging to 60%.

This temporary solution is said to prevent the batteries inside Note 7s from overheating and eventually exploding, reports KitGuru.

Samsung plans to roll out the update in South Korea by Sept. 20. Once installed on Note 7, the devices will only be able to charge up to 60% of their battery capacity. So far there has been no word on a global release.

It is far from being a permanent solution and Note 7 owners who have failed to participate in the recall could potentially still be in danger. At the very least this quick fix may help prevent further damage to property.  Alfred Bayle
