Popular first-person shooter video game franchise “Call of Duty” has found its new star: UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor.
The 28-year-old mixed martial artist will appear as one of the villains of the latest release entitled “Infinite Warfare,” alongside Game of Thrones’ Kit Harrington, according to Activision.
Game developers digitally cloned the Irish sensation’s iconic movements through the use of a motion capture suit.
He reportedly turned down a movie role to focus on his UFC 202 rematch with Nate Diaz, but couldn’t resist the multibillion-dollar gaming franchise.
In a performance that shouldn’t require much acting, McGregor will lend his unprecedented star power in one of the most successful video game franchises of all time.
“Call of Duty: Black Ops 3,” which was released in 2015, notched the highest-grossing entertainment premiere of any video game with $550 million in its first three days, the report said.
It remains unknown how much McGregor will make for his role. Rumored to have earned around $15 million during his Diaz rematch, he should command a hefty sum.
