WATCH: Katy Perry hits the road in new ‘Harleys in Hawaii’ video

“Harleys in Hawaii” marks the third single from the pop powerhouse as lead artist this year.

For the occasion, Perry co-wrote the song with fellow chart-topper Charlie Puth as well as Johan Carlsson and Jacob Kasher, all of whom she collaborated with on her recent single “Small Talk.”

The songstress also released the accompanying music video for “Harleys in Hawaii”, which was helmed by Barcelona-based directors collective Manson. The visual shows Perry hitting the roads of Hawaii on a Harley, stopping along the way to drink cocktails and sing karaoke at a tiki bar.

“Let me run my fingers through your salty hair/Go ahead, explore the island vibes/So real that you can feel it in the air/I’m revvin’ up your engine,” she seductively sings in one of her verses.

She ends up meeting a mysterious biker with whom she drives away at the end of the video.

Harleys in Hawaii” arrived a few weeks after the previously issued singles “Small Talk” and “Never Really Over” — which will likely appear on Perry’s forthcoming new album.

The yet-untitled album will mark the Grammy-winner’s sixth studio effort, following her 2017 “Witness”.

Earlier this month, Perry also announced that she filed an appeal of the July decision that found her and her label liable for $2.78 million (P142 million) to Christian rapper Flame for plagiarizing elements of their 2013 hit-song “Dark Horse” from his 2008 “Joyful Noise”.

As Variety reports, part of the appeal relies on the relative popularity of Flame’s hit, pointing out that “[p]laintiffs did not offer proof of one single digital or brick-and-mortar sale of ‘Joyful Noise’ or [the album] ‘Our World Redeemed’ and admitted that they have no such evidence.” CL/JB

Why Taylor’s new video made ‘Queer Eye’s’ Antoni ‘freak out’

Model-TV personality Antoni Porowski almost appeared in a music video for pop star Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” in 2014, as the boyfriend bedeviled by the singer’s obsessed character.

“I auditioned for that when I was a waiter and got called back twice,” Porowski recently told Entertainment Tonight. “In the audition, I had to pretend that I was running away from a lion on a green screen.”

But the part went to someone else, the “Queer Eye” host recounted: “Sean O’Pry did a fantastic job. And so now I feel like [a] ‘phoenix rising’ … I got to actually be in one.”

Porowski, along with his “Queer Eye” cohosts, were among the celebrities included in Swift’s recently released “You Need to Calm Down” video.

“She’s very much in control of her own creative process,” said the openly gay 35-year-old, who is also a chef and actor. “While she is very collaborative, it’s very much a vision that she has.”

Appearing in the video was “so much fun,” he said, recalling that he witnessed Swift’s hands-on approach. “It’s so admirable. Men can learn from strong women in media and pop culture. I think it’s freaking dope. I respect her tremendously.”

When the video—which also has cameos from Ellen DeGeneres, Adam Lambert, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Katy Perry and Ryan Reynolds—was finally unveiled, Porowski was ecstatic.

“I freaked out! I thought it was so cool,” he said. “Just to see all these wonderful LGBTQIA+ personalities and allies [together] … she doesn’t have to do that. I really respect that.” —OLIVER PULUMBARIT

WATCH: Spice Girls’ ‘Wannabe’ remade for equality campaign

TWO decades since British girl group Spice Girls debuted their smash hit, “Wannabe,” the song’s iconic music video has been recreated into a campaign video for international gender equality.

The remake was produced by Project Everyone in behalf of the Global Goals, a United Nations initiative of 17 goals for sustainable development.

The video features a diverse roster of artists from India, Nigeria, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. These include Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez, British hip hop group M.O and American dancer Taylor Hatala.

The video which follows a continuous shot format similar to that of the original, involved artists advocating for quality education, equal job opportunities, and an end to violence against women and child marriage.

“Girls and women are disproportionately affected by these challenges and are key to building resilient communities to withstand them,” Global Goals wrote in its home page (http://www.globalgoals.org/).

“2016 is our chance to use our collective power and tell world leaders what we really really want for girls and women,” it added, referencing to lyrics from the ‘90s girl power anthem.

Celebrities, including former Spice Girls members Victoria Beckham and Melanie Chisholm, expressed support for the video by endorsing it on their social media accounts.

“20 years on – Girl Power being used to empower a new generation. I’m so proud of The Global Goals #WhatIReallyReallyWant,” Beckham wrote on Facebook.

Chisholm tweeted, “Flattered and honored that our crazy song is being used so beautifully.”

Signed by 193 world leaders in September 2015, the Global Goals campaign aims “to end poverty, fix climate change and tackle inequalities” by 2030. Jaehwa Bernardo, INQUIRER.net trainee/KS
