LOOK: Japanese chic, summer-themed lollipops

Modish lollipops. These are just one of the Japanese people’s fascinations for things outré.

Every season, Japanese customers wait for Shinri Tezuka’s lollipop fashion line–this summer season, the designs of the lollipop illustrate the humid, sunny and cool weathers experienced in her country.

Tezuka, a 26-year-old Japanese candy creator, sculpts exquisite lollipops into intricate designs. This lollipop designing technique is called Amezaiku, and this dates back to the 8th century. It became popular during the Edo period, according to Japanese pop culture site Rocket News.

Tezuka opened his lollipop store, Asakusa Amezaiku Ameshin, in two locations in Japan–one in the district of Asakusa and another in Tokyo Skytree.
