Engagement Rings That Last A Lifetime

What Are The Celebrities Choosing For Engagement Rings?

Engagement rings are a symbol of commitment and also love that endures a lifetime. Just like the sentiment, the engagement ring you choose should also be timeless. Even as long ago as the early Roman period, men would give betrothal rings to their special loved one to indicate their desire to wed. In those days, the rings used to be crafted from iron. The practice of choosing gold and silver rings was a later adaptation.

Engagement rings have come a long way from the iron rings of middle ages times to the diamond studded platinum rings on the market today. When we discuss jewelry, the very first thing that comes to mind is stars. Over time, stars have been seen donning some of the most exquisite pieces of jewelry including some spectacular engagement rings. Just about the most well-known engagement ring could be the one worn by late lady Diana, Princess of Wales. The ring had incredible 14 gemstones, an enormous 18 carat sapphire in the center, which was surrounded by 14 smaller diamonds. The 6 carat pink engagement ring given by Ben Affleck to Jennifer Lopez before their break up is also rather famous. Nikki Reed may be the latest celebrity to flaunt an incredible engagement ring.

Engagement Ring given by Paul McDonald to Nikki Reed

Twilight star Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald of American Idol fame make a attractive couple. According to a Nikki verified the news concerning her engagement with Paul at the 2011 MTV movie awards. She set the media abuzz with the news about her engagement as she stepped on the red carpet dressed in a chiffon black colored dress, Jimmy Choo peep toes and a gorgeous engagement ring.

Paul and Nikki met the very first time in March 2011. Following a whirlwind romance of only 2 months, they're so deeply in love they have made a decision to take the next step. According to jewelry experts, the engagement ring worn by Nikki is a contemporary type of an eternity ring made from diamond and platinum. The ring can be used as a stunning wedding band as well. It features full diamonds, that are set in interweaving platinum. It is a lovely representation of a lifelong bond between two people. The estimated cost of the ring is just about $30,000.

Tips to Choose the Perfect Engagement Ring

Prior to engagement ring searching, it is advisable to be aware of some things about them so you do not find yourself making a bad bargain. Cost is often the most crucial consideration. Remember that high quality diamonds are usually really costly. In metros, for example at an [Austin jeweler], you may need to spend around $1000 for a good cut of diamond. Various other critical things to consider include the style and color. You can choose silver, gold or platinum rings. Furthermore, you are likely to have more variety, if you buy a stand-alone engagement ring rather than a set of engagement and wedding rings. But you must take care that the rings go well together. Locals from large cities like Austin will have no trouble in getting a wide variety of [Austin engagement rings] to choose from.

Louisiana State shuts down Mississippi State, 19-6

The No. 3-ranked Tigers beat the No. 25 Bulldogs for the 12th time in a row, as Jarrett Lee throws for 213 yards and a touchdown.

Jarrett Lee completed 21 of 27 passes for 213 yards and a touchdown and No. 3 Louisiana State defeated No. 25 Mississippi State, 19-6, on Thursday night in Starkville, Miss.

Lee was the unexpected star, firing conservative, but nearly perfect passes all over the field. His 19-yard touchdown pass to Rueben Randle with 11:56 left in the fourth quarter gave LSU a 16-6 lead.

His only mistake was an interception minutes later, but as it had all game, LSU's defense stuffed Mississippi State with little trouble. LSU, 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the Southeastern Conference, had 14 tackles for a loss and held the Bulldogs (1-2, 0-2) to 193 total yards and two field goals.

Despite Mississippi State's cowbells providing an ever-present backdrop, LSU won its 12th straight game in the series dating to 1999.

Lee's success is quickly making LSU fans forget about expected starter Jordan Jefferson, who has been suspended all season after being arrested for his alleged role in a bar fight in August. Lee wasn't spectacular, but he didn't have to be, calmly managing the game and hitting open receivers downfield.

Health Food Made in the U.S.A. – An American Manufacturing Success Story

Health food manufactured in the U.S.A. is not always the greatest, but one manufacturer is working to set higher standards. With one of the biggest production facilities in the world, this producer is doing more than any other health food company to guarantee the safety and effectiveness of its totally natural, herb based products.

Starting 29 years ago, Dr. Tei-Fu Chen, an American immigrant from Taiwan and his wife, Dr. Oi-Lin Chen from Hong Kong, gave birth to Sunrider. Today, with worldwide headquarters in Los Angeles, California, Sunrider is a leading manufacturer of premium herbal health food and green personal care products. Sunrider's state-of-the-art U.S. manufacturing facility boasts an unrivaled 1 million square feet of space on some of the most expensive real estate anywhere. Touring the factory, one realizes the focus on cleanliness, safety, and effectiveness that permeates every infinitesimal detail of the production process.

Sunrider's exceptional production processes are setting new standards of quality in the health food industry. The company self manufactures over 415 natural, plant based products that harness ancient Chinese formulas combined with remarkable technological advances. Possessing unrivaled owner expertise, Dr. Chen is one of the world's leading authorities on herbs and a licensed pharmacist, while his counterpart, Mrs. Oi-Lin Chen, is a Western trained Medical Doctor. Jointly, they lead a pool of scientists to unite the herbal traditions of the East with modern technology of the West in order to manufacture the safest, most potent herbal health food products possible.

In the company's new manufacturing plant, Dr. Tei-Fu Chen has made it a priority to eliminate toxic, heavy metals, such as mercury and radiation from the raw herbs that Sunrider uses. His manufacturing processes extend far beyond what most health food companies adhere to for testing of undesirable microbes and heavy metals in their raw ingredients. No other health food manufacturer in the world is taking the colossal steps that this company is to assure that their products are safe and potent. In fact, many health food companies do not even manufacture their own products, but subcontract that operation to a third party.

In addition to innumerable awards accepted by Sunrider for health food manufacturing, Dr. Chen was honored by Forbes Asia as one of the 25 most important Chinese-Americans in 2010. His humanitarian efforts have been acknowledged by Unicef, The American Cancer Society, and the American Red Cross, among others. Some might say that Dr. Chen is lucky to have built a health food empire generating millions of dollars in revenue and enjoying such fantastic success. He prefers the wisdom that says "luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity". This is why Sunrider will soon be celebrating 30 years as an American health food manufacturing success story. Author Cliff Everett Smith owns http://www.BestHealthFoodStore.net, the Internet health food store that provides products made entirely by Sunrider. Look at the catalog and discover why these formulas provide outstanding nutrition, greater effectiveness, and absolute safety.

Social Media in Recruiting - Whats the Buzz?

Facebook - LinkedIn - Social Media - What's the Buzz?
Facebook is currently "The Social Media" site on the Internet. LinkedIn is the site most often used for "Professional Networking".
Which site works best for Recruiting New Talent for your Firm?
What are the differences - are there any?
In the early 2000-2006 era a number of "Social Media site were born, among them Facebook and LinkedIn
Let's talk a bit about social media, what that means really - to most people. Social Media has a couple of different meanings I think - depending on who you talk to.
I would like to propose that the term "Social Media" be relegated to just that - SOCIAL MEDIA.
Facebook does a great job of letting Susie show off her new dog or Molly talk about what a great time she had with her kids at Disneyland over the weekend. Facebook also lets Bill post pictures of all of the fun he and his buddies had getting hammered at the beach last weekend. Those are SOCIAL functions and most likely are not appropriate images you would necessarily want to share with the new hiring manager who you are trying to impress.
HOWEVER -
Facebook has an appetite to be the dominant player in both the Social Media niche and the Professional Job/Jobseeker Niche - so they will do what they seem to do best - innovate - add new features. Enter Branchout - a new feature on Facebook created by a team, with backgrounds in the social media industry and online recruiting; funded by some of the original investors in Facebook.
Here are the important components offered on Facebook through "Branchout"
1. You can now create a professional Profile - No Social stuff here just work history, Education and endorsements - stuff like that
2. Search Jobs - Use Location, Industry and Job Title - Good for general job searches; so far about 3 million
3. Send out invitations to Connect - pretty standard stuff - but a good way to grow your network
4. Search for a company - see everyone who works there and connect with friends or ask friends to introduce you to other within the company - this sounds cool.
Will Facebook become a player in the Job/Jobseeker market niche - almost certainly - they have the exposure the numbers and the desire - the technology will be built and change as the appetite for the product increases. Facebook has recently said that it has over 750 million users worldwide.
Next let's look at LinkedIn -
LinkedIn actually started a couple of years earlier than Facebook and was conceived and developed from the beginning as a Professional networking site. The natural evolution, to becoming a site to network by industry and the inclusion of a jobs module, catapulted Linkedin into one of the best places online to network and find jobs by industry. So LinkedIn was started with the Professional in mind - I think that's important to remember.
Now it is at least 120,000,000 users strong and growing daily - their latest IPO was a huge success and has infused the company with the capital to develop and grow even faster.
As a strictly Professional "Fact Checking" site for reviewing a person's background for "Job Fit" - LinkedIn is clearly the winner- at this time. The biggest problem with Linkedin is that most of the site users do not actually use the site - they fill out their profile and then - seldom go back to the site - there has been no SOCIAL component to the site. LinkedIn is highly aware of this problem and intends to fix it - they will need to become more like Facebook - that is they will need to enhance the Social Aspect of their site offering. This is being done as we speak (or as you read this).
So - we have two sites each doing what they do best, trying to do what the other does best - kind of confusing. I personally use both sites and I am not sure I have a great answer to which is better:
Facebook drives me mad with all of the inappropriate ranting and junk pasted on it by people trying to be funny, cool, zany or share their secrets for everyone - anyone to see. I know there are ways to filter all of that but - I just keep deleting my membership - and then of course I turn it back on again after a week or two - I admit it, I am an online junky - and I keep hoping that maybe Facebook will grow up a bit - Ok it's me and the way I use the site - I'll try harder.
LinkedIn is not much better - but from a different perspective - it's boring - you really can't do much with the site except link up with a bunch of different people - the groups are OK but most seem cluttered with junk. OK again - it's me - I am expecting more out of it than I should.
I guess I will need to keep looking until I find the right site for my needs - from the perspective of Recruiting New Talent for your Firm - which is where this article started - I am guessing that industry Niche sites are going to be the new Social Networking/Professional Job sites of the future. Maybe within the already existing sites - maybe something new.
Shamelessly I should disclose I own and operate what I hope will be one such site.
PhysicianCVs - A place where everyone Speaks Physician! Check it out if you are a Physician or Recruit Physicians - if you are not or do not - don't bother it will be boring - you won't get it or speak the language!

Legionnaires disease is a severe pneumonia

Legionnaires disease is a severe pneumonia. Pontiac fever is a mild, non-pneumonia influenza-like illness.

Most people who are exposed to the Legionella bacteria do not become ill. Middle-aged and older people are more susceptible to this disease. The disease has also been reported in children although less severe. Smokers and persons with chest problems are more commonly affected.

Legionnaire’s disease symptoms are headaches, temperature growth, abdominal pain, diarrhea, cough, fever, muscle pain, vomiting and having a problem in breathing.

Treatment with antibiotics is the cornerstone of treatment, erythromycin is the first choice of medication drugs. In addition to erythromycin, critically ill patients could receive rifampicin, an antibiotic commonly used to treat tuberculosis. Medications can be managed intravenously initially, then orally once the patient's condition become better, Treatment generally lasts for 3 weeks or even more and all prescription drugs must be taken, even if symptoms disappear. Critically, patients may be hospitalized in an intensive care unit (ICU), where oxygen can be managed and vital signs can be monitored regularly.  These precautions helps to stop or avoid complications such as heart failure, kidney failure, and change of  heartbeat irregularity.

More ground turkey is recalled over salmonella

Cargill recalls 185,000 pounds of ground turkey for the same reason as its recall last month: A sample of meat processed at the same facility tested positive for the same strain of salmonella.

The Minnesota food company that recalled 36 million pounds of ground turkey last month linked to a salmonella outbreak is pulling an additional 185,000 pounds of turkey for the same reason.

The voluntary recall, announced Sunday by Cargill Inc., comes in the wake of one of the largest meat recalls in U.S. history: As of mid-August, health officials had linked a strain of salmonella found in contaminated turkey products to 111 people falling ill in 31 states and at least one death in California.

That recalled meat, which included fresh and frozen ground turkey, was produced at Cargill's processing plant in Springdale, Ark.

The latest recalled turkey came from the same Arkansas Cargill plant. Health officials said that, as in the previous recall, the turkey being recalled might contain Salmonella Heidelberg, a strain that is resistant to most commonly prescribed antibiotics.

Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea and abdominal pain. It can be fatal to young children, older people and those with compromised immune systems.

The recalled turkey was produced at the Arkansas plant Aug. 23, 24, 30 and 31, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service. Federal health officials said samples they tested Aug. 24 contained the same genetic strain of S. Heidelberg as seen in the earlier outbreak.

Although the two recalls are strikingly similar, there is at least one key difference: timing.

The first recall was prompted by reports of people getting sick, said William D. Marler, a Seattle attorney who specializes in food-safety litigation.

This time, however, the recall was voluntarily prompted by Cargill's own test results from samples it took: Agriculture Department officials said Sunday that they have not identified any reported cases of people falling ill because of turkey involved in the current recall.

"This is how it should be done," Marler said. Cargill is "treating salmonella like the beef industry treats E. coli O157, as an adulterant" — a substance that may make a product harmful — and is being more quick to respond by removing potentially problematic meat from the nation's food chain.

In a statement, Cargill said it has halted all production of ground turkey at the facility until it can identify ways to eliminate the problem.

The latest recalled products are labeled with the brand names Honeysuckle White, HEB and Kroger, Cargill said. The packages include a label with the establishment number P-963 inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The company urged customers who bought packages of the recalled turkey to return them to the stores where they were bought for a full refund.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we are acting quickly in response to USDA's sample testing," Steve Willardsen, president of Cargill's turkey processing business, said in the statement. "Although there are no known illnesses associated with this positive sample, it is the same Salmonella Heidelberg strain that resulted in our voluntary recall on Aug. 3, 2011."

The turkey recalls are the latest in a string of salmonella outbreaks to rock the nation's food industry this year.

In March, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found that cantaloupes from a Guatemala farm were connected to 12 cases of salmonella poisoning. The FDA later concluded that the cantaloupes were imported into the U.S. by Del Monte Fresh Produce. As of June, 20 people had become sick from the outbreak of Salmonella Panama, including two people in California, the CDC said.

In July, a Texas produce company recalled papayas that were contaminated with salmonella that health officials say made nearly 100 people in 23 states ill. That same month, an Idaho company recalled alfalfa and spicy sprouts that were also contaminated with salmonella and caused at least 21 to become ill in five states.

The August turkey recall was one of the nation's largest food recalls ever.

The biggest was in 2008, when Westland/Hallmark Meat Co. recalled 143 million pounds of beef after an investigation into animal cruelty at its slaughtering plant in Chino. The meat included 50 million pounds that had been sent to school lunch programs.

New York's 9/11 Memorial

Everyone remembers where they were on the day of 9/11. For me, I was just getting into the colleges common room after rugby practice to find everyone surrounding the TV watching the dramatic events unfold. The classes were called off for the afternoon and it soon hit home that this was a world changing moment.
2 years later and I'm in New York on a studies trip. The city is a hustle and bustle and I loved seeing the sights and sounds. My friends and I decide to take a walk down to ground zero one day at the southern end of the island. The atmosphere was a far cry away from the rest of the city's vibrant personality. The silence was almost deafening, the sound of car engines and horns was non-existent except for the faint pitter-patter of footsteps on the concrete sidewalks. The buildings surrounding the site still bared the scares of the event and where shrouded in tarpaulin. Plaques and posters surrounded the site, honouring the victims and educating visitors about the history of the twin towers. It was a visit I will never forget and I assume thousands of other people felt the same.
The site now is imminently close to reopening as the 9/11 memorial park and is expected to be one of the most visited attractions in the city, reaching 10,000 guests a day. Opening a decade after the incident on September 12 this year, a ceremony will be held for the families and friends of the victims.
The memorial itself contains two square pools with cascading waterfalls where the two towers once sat whilst bronze parapets will display the names of the 2,983 people who died in the attack. The pavilion will act as a visitor centre and will show the victims stories alongside artefacts found from the ruins.
So far the demand for advanced tickets has been very high and has surpassed expectations. This is not surprising as the event which happened ten years ago affected thousands of people around the world. Many visitors may feel a personal link between themselves and the memorial and it is no doubt that this will become one of New York's latest landmarks to grace Manhattan with the visual impact compared to the likes of the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building.
Visitors will be able to see the memorial for themselves when it opens to the public this year.
