Sony Xperia Z5 to have fingerprint scanner?

A fingerprint scanner could be the biggest come-on for Sony's upcoming new Xperia flagship handset, a tech site reported.

Technodify.com said the upcoming phone, dubbed the Xperia Z5, is to sport Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM.

But the site, citing leaked information, said the phone will have a fingerprint recognition system.

"While we currently don’t know where Sony is planning to implement this fingerprint scanner... we are expecting to see it on the home button. Along with that, the phone will follow the same old OmniBalance design with 4,500 man battery Inside," it said.

The Xperia Z5 is also expected to feature the latest Sony Exmor RS IMX230 based CMOS sensor with 4K video recording support, HDR and 21 million pixels, it added.

Citing rumors, it said Sony might bring Xperia Z5 to Japan in September. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
