WATCH: Kesha drops comeback single ‘Praying’

Kesha liberates herself from her “party girl” image with the release of her new single “Praying” on Thursday.

Co-written by Ben Abraham, Andrew Joslyn and Ryan Lewis, “Praying” details the pop star’s journey in recouping her strength after a torrent of catastrophes. Breaking free from her raunchy image years ago, Kesha’s vocal prowess encapsulated her struggle in battling life’s obstacles.

Her single is part of the colorful track list for “Rainbow,” which will be released on August 11. Citing Entertainment Weekly, Kesha collaborated with singers Dolly Parton, Eagles of Death Metal, and The Dap-Kings Horns.

In an essay published on Lena Dunham’s Lenny Letter, Kesha elaborated: “In the past couple of years, I have grown into a strong, independent woman. I have realized through this long journey of ups and downs that if I’m lucky enough to have a voice that people listen to, then I should use it for good and for truth.”

Back in 2014, Kesha sued her former manager Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald for alleged sexual abuse while was signed under Kemosabe Records. Both are still embroiled in a legal skirmish.  Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
